A stronger, smarter and more global Autopay
CEO, Stig Ove Gulbrandsen and Commercial Director, Mikkel Neple.
2025 has been a defining year for Autopay Technologies. As a leading technology provider driving the evolution of ANPR and freeflow parking across Europe, the company has strengthened its position through consistent delivery, strategic expansion and some of its most ambitious projects to date.
Today, Autopay supports more than 600 locations, processes over 100 million parking sessions, and serves a rapidly growing user base of 2.3 million.
With growing recognition in the UK, the Nordics and Central Europe, Autopay continues to remove friction from mobility - one barrier at a time.
Looking back at the year, CEO Stig Ove Gulbrandsen and Commercial Director Mikkel Neple reflect on the milestones that have shaped Autopay’s progress and laid a strong foundation for the years ahead.
2025 in one word: Growth
Growth has been the defining theme of 2025. One of the most significant developments was the integration of Simplyture, a strategic acquisition that has strengthened Autopay’s product portfolio, expanded its market reach and brought together two highly complementary teams and technologies.
“The integration has accelerated our roadmap and made us more complete as a technology provider,” says CEO Stig Ove Gulbrandsen.“It has allowed us to combine strengths and move faster in the direction we know the market is heading.”
Alongside this, Autopay delivered two of the most complex and high-profile installations in its history: Westfield City Süd in Austria and Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom. These projects build on a platform already proven at scale, handling an average parking duration of 4 hours and 15 minutes across millions of daily transactions.
“The launch at Gatwick represents a real breakthrough for us in the UK,” says Commercial Director Mikkel Neple. “The response has been extremely strong and clearly confirms that freeflow is increasingly seen as the natural next step for high-traffic environments.”
Defining milestones
Three milestones stand out as particularly important in shaping Autopay’s momentum in 2025:
The acquisition of Simplyture, strengthening both product capabilities and operational scale
The successful launch at Gatwick Airport, demonstrating Autopay’s ability to deliver in demanding, high-volume environments
The transition to cloud infrastructure, marking a major step forward in scalability and future development
According to Gulbrandsen, the move to cloud is especially transformative. “Cloud gives us the foundation to build a more scalable, resilient and forward-looking platform. It is a long-term investment that significantly strengthens our ability to innovate and grow.”
Market development: The UK sets the pace
Among all markets, the UK clearly stands out as the most dynamic in 2025. Gulbrandsen and Neple describe an industry characterised by openness, curiosity and a strong appetite for modern mobility solutions.
“In the UK, freeflow is already widely seen as a natural evolution,” says Neple. “We meet operators and partners who are ready to move fast, and that creates real momentum.”
Other European markets have developed at different speeds, influenced by regulatory frameworks, public adoption and operational maturity. At the same time, pilot projects and ongoing discussions have provided valuable insight and reinforced Autopay’s understanding of how to succeed across diverse markets.
Onepark: pointing towards the future
One of the clearest examples of Autopay’s growth in 2025 is the partnership with Onepark. During the year, Onepark opened more than 70 new sites, reaching a total of 360 locations in Norway.
“Onepark shows what is possible when operational excellence meets a digital-first mindset and a strong technology platform,” says Gulbrandsen. “Their expansion clearly illustrates the scale and potential of the Autopay ecosystem.”
Including Onepark’s broader portfolio, spanning EV charging, toll roads and parking, this represents one of the most comprehensive Autopay environments in the Nordic region.
A year built on proven robustness
Product enhancements in 2025 included a redesigned interface and a more powerful sessions view, giving operators even greater control and insight across large volumes of data. These improvements build on what has long defined Autopay’s technology: proven robustness at scale.
Processing more than 100 million parking sessions across hundreds of locations requires systems that perform consistently, day in and day out.
“Our customers choose Autopay because they need solutions that perform reliably in complex, high-traffic environments,” says Neple.
“We have spent years building a platform designed for scale. Every new deployment and every new insight allows us to further strengthen something that is already proven in daily operation.”
The Autopay advantage
According to Neple, Autopay’s position in the market is driven by three key factors: the completeness of the solution, the ability to operate large and complex environments such as airports, and neutrality as a technology provider without operating its own parking assets.
“There are very few platforms that can run an entire airport with the level of stability and flexibility we deliver,” says Neple. “That capability is increasingly recognised in the market.”
Gulbrandsen adds that the complexity of operating high-performance mobility systems is often underestimated.
“What we have built is not easy to replicate. It requires deep expertise, long-term investment and a relentless focus on quality.”
Looking ahead to 2026
As Autopay enters 2026, the sense of momentum is clear. The UK remains a particularly exciting market, with strong partnerships, major infrastructure projects and an industry ready for change.
“The opportunities in the UK genuinely excite us,” says Neple. “With airports, new large operators and a fast-moving market such as Austria and Germany, the conditions are right for continued growth.”
At the same time, opportunities in Austria and ongoing product development continue to build confidence across the organisation.
“Our product grows stronger month by month,” says Gulbrandsen. “With more than 2.3 million registered users and 1.1 million active payment profiles, combined with new features such as our permit webshop and continued improvements to data quality and user experience, Autopay will become an even more valuable asset for operators, property owners and motorists alike.”
He concludes with a focus on consistency.
“Professionalism and long-term thinking have taken us to where we are today. That mindset will continue to guide us as we move into the next phase of Autopay’s journey.”
